[Former - Executive Director at Lupin Human Welfare And Research Foundation]
Mr. Sitaram Gupta is a pioneering development entrepreneur and India’s leading proponent of the district development model who, with visionary zeal, redefined a novel approach to rural development. Integrating ambitious empowerment goals with economic imperatives, he created low-cost innovations. His unique insights into the mechanics of human transactions changed the paradigm in corporate social responsibility initiatives for rural empowerment. He also created a rare convergence across a varied set of actors: local communities, CSR agencies, government agencies, financial institutions, think-tanks and multilateral agencies. With his unique district development approach, he has successfully lifted lakhs people out of poverty in several districts across the country and created over thousands of jobs.
Mr. Gupta is renowned for creating locally sustainable, replicable and long-term employment solutions for rural empowerment, as part of a holistic development vision, rather than simply relying on aid-based models.
